I went to the City Market corner store with five dollars to get dinner and a movie for a date. I bought an avocado, some black beans and some strawberries. I looked for a movie I thought the two of us might like to watch, but I barely knew my date, should I get the safe indy art house flick to make myself look smart or should I rent a chick-flick and test his girlie endurance? At that moment I saw the store clerk (the cute one) staring at me.

Thu, May 13, 2004 - 9:46 AMI flicked my hair out of my eyes and smiled at him. He looked away quickly as if embarrassed that I caught him looking. I didn't mind much, a little harmless flirtation never hurt anyone - did it?

Re: The Corner Store
Thu, May 13, 2004 - 9:50 AMI thought he would look away but he was really staring up a storm. Maybe I had some lint on my eybrow or something. His gaze made me a little nervous and I dropped the bag of black beans, which broke and scattered frijoles throughout the aisle. I bent down to try and pick them up and noticed that the clerk was still staring. But he was still staring at where I had been standing, not at where I was crouched down. I stood up and stared back at him. No change. I crouched down again. No change. He was still staring at the same spot, whether I was in that spot or not. I stood up and walked over to him. He didn't seem to be breathing. -

Thu, May 13, 2004 - 11:37 AMI climbed onto the counter to get a closer look, "Um, hi...cutie... are you ok?" I held my hand under his nose and there was no breath.I jumped back and accidentally knocked over the rack of Power Bars behind me. "Dammit", I thought, "I should have flirted with him sooner." Just then the lights in the store began to flicker. -

Thu, May 13, 2004 - 2:31 PMI felt something was finally mooving in the direction of the living statue. I looked at him again and now he was about 5 feet above the floor. I could nt believe my eyes. What the hell was this? An other levitation trick, an hallucination on my part. The lights stopped flickering. -

Re: The Corner Store
Thu, May 13, 2004 - 11:33 PM"Wow, apparently the dead really can dance." I smelled ozone in the air. Some of the cans on the shelves had swollen and were beginning to explode. The freezer was leaking water all ove the floor. I walked up and down the aisles looking for anyone else who might be in the store, but there were't any other customers. The door to the storeroom was cracked open I pushed it enough to look inside. "Hello?" -

Re: The Corner Store
Thu, May 13, 2004 - 11:45 PMBAM! I woke up in my same old bedroom, totally unable to move, not remembering at all when I went to bed. Did I have clothes on? I didn't think so, and I know without a fact that I didn't break out those window-panes next to the dresser. And, I was also rather sure that the figure sitting in the chair in front of the dressing mirror was not there when I left the apartment earlier. When was that, anyway? -

Re: The Corner Store
Fri, May 14, 2004 - 1:57 PMAs my eyes began to focus the figure became clearer. My mouth dropped and I could not believe I was seeing the image of my dead sister. She was nude, and I was embarrassed that I could not hide my arousal at this. "Nothing like a little pup-tent in the morning... eh bro?" she said melodically. -
